Advocacy

To Children and Families:
A U.S. Department of Health and Human Services study shows that students who spend one to four hours per week in extracurricular activities are 51% less likely to use drugs and 63% less likely to become teen parents.

It’s also known that children who attend an after school program miss fewer days of school, have improved behavior in school, complete their homework more regularly and earn higher test scores. Plus parents report they are able to work more hours and maintain more flexible schedules.

To the Community:
Companies who wish to retain quality employees understand the importance of having safe, affordable after school programs. Those employees tend to be happier and more productive. The community benefits with lower crime rates, well adjusted youth, and improved academic performance.

The Afterschool Coalition of Indianapolis supports the advancement of children and youth in Indianapolis and throughout the State of Indiana. The Coalition advocates for children, specifically directing our attention to children and children’s policy issues on the city, state, and federal level.  ACI supports its advocacy through the Afterschool Alliance on the federal level and the Children’s Coalition of Indiana on the state level. Families need positive places for their children after school and in the summer.  Our next generation depends on all of us!
Give your voice and support to our children and youth! “Give kids a place to go, and they well go places.”
