Mission & History

What’s the thinking about after school programs?  There is a demand, 364,109 (36%) Hoosier would participate in a program if one was available.  332,642 (30%)  Indiana children are on their own after school.   At this time 112,379 (10) Hoosier kids participate in after school programs.*

The Afterschool Coalition of Indianapolis is in its 13th year as an advocate for after school programs in Indianapolis. Our mission is straightforward: through collaborative efforts, the Afterschool Coalition of Indianapolis supports the strategic planning, development, and expansion of quality programs during non-school hours for all K-12 children and their families in metropolitan Indianapolis.

ACI is an umbrella organization advocating safe, educational and recreational based after school programs in Central Indiana.  The Coalition holds bi-monthly General Network meetings.

ACI General Networking Meetings are designed to support after school and related programs.    General Networking provides a platform for program leaders to exchange best practices and collaborate and support one another.

After school providers now have a forum to compare services and improve performance. They can network and share ideas among members and access after school best practices that help strengthen and further their initiatives.

Major goals of ACI are to support existing after school programs while advocating for the creation of new after school programs.  ACI seeks resources to provide field trips so that children and youth can explore education and careers opportunities thus enlighten young people as to the bright possibilities that lie ahead for them.
